Portocristo, Port de Portocristo, Port de Manacor or Cala Manacor is situated at 12 kilometres from Manacor.

This z-shaped sea inlet, surrounded by high and beautiful cliffs has a wide cove in the interior, a fishing port and a marina, as well as one of the most beautiful and sheltered natural ports o the western coast of the Balearic Islands, and also one of the most important touristic centres of Majorca.

This big beach of the Port de Manacor is characterized by its fine-grained golden sand, it is beautiful and has a sea promenade populated by trees.

The marine and underwater conditions are very good for anchoring boats.

This track of coastal land on Mallorca is formed by several kilometers of sandy beaches with its original flora and is the only one of its kind remaining in a pure state on Mallorca. We suggest that you enjoy a full day in the clean, transparent waters. You can choose the spot that most pleases you within this extension of excellent beaches.

You can travel to this unique area by means of public transport. If you have your own transport, drive to the village of "Campos", from where you will be directed by signboards to "Sa Rapita". Just before reaching this sea-resort follow the sign "Ses Covetes" or "Es Trenc" and keep going straight-on until the very end, where you turn to the right into "Ses Covetes". Park your car as soon as you can and walk to the beach by following the ever-present beach-goers.

From this place on, you will enjoy the most untouched and solitary spot in the whole area. Many bathers prefer this spot, because they can swim naked, feeling the touch of the waves on their bodies, nothing between their skin and nature. This is the place called "Es Trenc". It is the nude beach of Mallorca.

After relaxing and having enjoyed the sand, sun and water, if you feel thirsty or hungry, you can visit the restaurants on the open beach. But do not forget, if you have visited this wonderful spot, it is above to enjoy nature.

You will probably wonder why there is no hotels or other constructions on the shore line. Well - the majority of Mallorcans put pressure on the government to leave "Es Trenc" untouched; they remember what El Arenal looked like before and after the tourist boom. This last natural beach should remain untouched.

More info

It is located near Palma and is one of the best cared for and connected beaches of the island. A large proportion of visitors stay in the Playa de Palma area (Ca'n Pastilla, El Arenal, Cala Estancia). The Magaluf area, in Calvià, is a British holiday area par excellence. It has a wide offer of restaurants, bars, hotels and clubs. If you are looking for more isolated beaches you should visit Calas de Mallorca (Manacor), an area consisting of several small coves and Formentor, from where you can see Menorca on a clear day. They have all received EU awards for their beauty and safety.

Among the many beaches in Mallorca, there is also room for the deep-rooted tradition of naturist beaches. In Mallorca, there are several naturist beaches both near and away from Palma. Nudism is practised in Es Trenc (Campos), la Playa del Mago (Portals Vells) and several other places.

One of the advantages of being on island is that when the winds blow from the north the beaches facing that direction will have a heavy swell. This makes them ideal to practise sports like windsurfing and surfing, although you have to be careful if you are going canoeing. The same happens when the wind blows from the south.

Before swimming it is important to check the sea conditions and follow the flag indications that can be found in most beaches of Mallorca. A green flag means that it is safe to swim, yellow means that you must be careful and red that you should not go into the water due to poor sea conditions.
Andreuhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18163179971162798041noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35335777.post-61750909854241373782009-04-06T07:41:00.000-07:002009-04-09T03:09:23.521-07:00Mallorca beaches
Regardless of whether they have white sand or rocks, turquoise or crystal clear waters or are isolated or equipped with all services, all the beaches in Mallorca have a unique charm.
